International Fluids Consortium (IFC)

The Specification Process

IFC Process

Setting the IFC performance specifications first requires OEMs to define the fluid needs for their vehicles and then set the course for industry partners to deliver products meeting those requirements. Working in this manner, the industry can reduce the time and expense invested in implementing new specifications and allow a more rapid and flexible response to new vehicle technology.

The current systems focus on each region in the world, which fosters duplication and lack of collaboration. OEMs are increasingly global, the IFC brings the elements together to function as a connected, fully-integrated, and sustainable fluid specification system benefiting everyone.

Additionally, the IFC’s specification setting process is intended to improve fluid performance and quality throughout the supply chain. By testing and certifying fluids in the program, consumers can trust IFC for the performance and quality required for their vehicles.
