High-Performance Multiuse (HPM) Grease Specification

The High-Performance Multiuse (HPM) Grease Specification introduced in November 2020. The specification’s limits are “challenging yet achievable” in order to set a new performance standard that grease users and specifiers can utilize for selecting greases to use in their applications.

HPM Webinars

Want to learn more about the HPM Grease? NLGI is pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated webinar series, specifically focused on the tests included in the new High-Performance Multiuse (HPM) grease specification.

The webinars are approx. 15-20 minutes, plus live Q&A at the end of the webinar. Once the webinar airs, a repository can be found on the Members’ Only area of the NLGI website.

Guidelines for Rebranders

A Rebrander is defined as a grease marketer who purchases a finished grease from a private label grease manufacturer and rebrands it for resale. A grease marketer will need to submit a Supplier Affidavit to document the supplier relationship with the private label manufacturer. The marketer must be a NLGI corporate member in order to receive the Rebrander pricing structure for their products. Please contact us if you have any questions about the Rebrander process.

Testing Labs

Whether you are preparing a new or an existing formulation for HPM grease certification, NLGI has listed several USA and Non-USA testing labs for your convenience. Neither CQA nor NLGI verifies the testing accuracy of the companies mentioned on the site.

Renewal and Auditing Process

HPM Grease certified products are registered and carry the NLGI HPM certification and enhanced performance tags. After the
initial certification, registered products are renewed annually upon successful completion of select bench testing on production samples. Field auditing of registered products is performed on an ongoing basis to ensure ontinued
compliance across the entire supply chain.

For more information on the renewal and audit process, please contact us.
